UK pledges additional $375 million in military aid for Kyiv
• ‘This is Ukraine’s finest hour’ – PM Johnson to address Ukrainian Parliament on Tuesday
United Kingdom announced on Monday that it would supply Ukraine with a further 300 million pounds ($375 million) in military aid, including electronic warfare equipment and a counter-battery radar system.
Since the invasion began on February 24, Britain offered Ukraine a torrent of dangerous and non-lethal weapons.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the shipments to Kyiv comprised over 5,000 anti-tank missiles, 5 air defense systems, 4.5 tonnes of explosives, and over 1,300 anti-structure ammunition.
Johnson will deliver a live video message to Ukraine's Parliament on Tuesday, making him the first foreign leader to address the Verkhovna Rada since the crisis began.
As the British embassy reopens in Kyiv, PM will say this is Ukraine's "finest hour," and that the UK is "proud to be among their friends."
“When my country faced the threat of invasion during the Second World War, our parliament – like yours – continued to meet throughout the conflict, and the British people showed such unity and resolve that we remember our time of greatest peril as our finest hour,” Johnson will say, according to pre-released comments by his office.
Britain would also provide night vision gadgets, tools to block satellite navigation, heavy-lift drones to resupply Ukrainian soldiers, and armored cars for civilian authorities, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's office said in a statement.
“Your children and grandchildren will say that Ukrainians taught the world that the brute force of an aggressor counts for nothing against the moral force of a people determined to be free,” Johnson will say.
